The forum, jointly hosted by Chinese National Academy of Arts, Fujian Academy of Social Sciences, Taiwan Shih Hsin University (SHU), Taiwan Wanjuanlou Books Company and FNU, was held at FNU on December 3 both online and offline. More than 120 experts and scholars from research institutions and colleges and universities on both sides of the Strait attended the event. At the opening ceremony, Zheng Ping, vice president of All-China Federation of Taiwan Compatriots, Chen Qinghe, president of SHU, Liu Xiaoxin, vice president of Fujian Academy of Social Sciences, Hong Mengqi, chair professor of Taiwan Ming Chuan University, Chen Yiyuan, chairman of Taiwan Chinese Language Association, Liang Jinxing, general manager of Wanshulou Books Company, and Wang Changping, president of FNU, delivered speeches respectively.
The theme of the forum is Exploring New Paths for Cross-strait Cultural Integration and Development in the New Landscape, with three sub-forums: Cross-strait History and Culture, Cross-strait Literature and Education and Cross-strait Culture and Art. In the keynote speech session, Sun Shaozhen, Senior Professor of Liberal Arts of FNU, Chen Zhiping, Dean of Academy of Guoxue (Chinese Classics) of Xiamen University, Lan Bozhou, Chairman of Taiwan Gujinliang Culture Foundation, Li Xizhu, Secretary-General of the Research Center for Taiwan History of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Zhang Zhonggang, fellow of the Institute of Literature of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Dai Zhijian, professor of School of Architecture and Civil Engineering of Xiamen University, Lin Anwu, honorary chair professor of Taiwan Dong Hwa University, and Qiu Zhichun, distinguished professor of SHU, respectively made wonderful academic reports on cross-strait history and culture research.
It is learned that since the establishment of the Cross-strait Cultural Development Forum in 2013, the standard level of the forum has been continuously improved with expanding influence, and that the forum has been listed in the key exchange projects related to Taiwan by the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council many times, and has developed into an important platform for scholars from both sides of the Taiwan Strait to exchange ideas and deepen cooperation, making positive contributions to promoting the peaceful development of cross-strait relations.
The forum also held the opening ceremony of Anti-colonialism and Taiwan's Recapture: Captioned Pictures Exhibition of Taiwan's History during the Japanese Occupation Period. Lan Bozhou, chairman of Taiwan Gujinliang Culture Foundation and curator of the exhibition, Tang Jingjun, director of the Liaison Office of Fuzhou Federation of Taiwan Compatriots, and Ye Weinan, director of the Association of Relatives of Anti-Japanese Patriots, delivered speeches respectively. The exhibition, co-hosted by Fuzhou Federation of Taiwan Compatriots, Taiwan Gujinliang Culture Foundation, Association of Relatives of Anti-Japanese Patriots, Center for Studies of Fujian and Taiwan of FNU of Key Research Institute of Humanities and Social Sciences of the Ministry of Education, and Pingtan Cross-Strait Guoxue Center, will be held at the library on Cangshan Campus of FNU from December 3 to 30, 2022, and at Fuzhou Taiwan Association Hall from January 1 to February 28, 2023.
