The 12th Confucius Institute Conference, held on December 12th, in Xi'an, Shaanxi Province, selected 70 Confucius Institutes from 1638 all over the world as model institutes / classes. The Confucius Institute, co-founded by FNU and Angeles University Foundation in Philippine, was among the selection and was also awarded “Outstanding Contribution to Chinese Proficiency Test”. At the conference, LiuYandong, vice premier of the State Council and chairman of the council of the Confucius Institute Headquarters presented the award to Archimedes T.David, vice president of Angeles University Foundation.
It was the third time that the Institute had won the honorary title of “Global Model Confucius Institute” after 2011 and 2013. Moreover, it is of great significance to receive the award of “Outstanding Contribution to Chinese Proficiency Test”, since it was established in the tenth anniversary of the Test by the Confucius Institute Headquarters and International Chinese Proficiency Test Organization, aiming at honoring those who make primary contributions to organizing and disseminatingthe Test. It was also reported that You Yinyao, a graduate from FNU in 2009, won the honorary title of “Model Individual” as a volunteer for teaching Chinese as a foreign language in Confucius Institute at the University of Utah.
FNU persists to disseminate Chinese around the world. So far, we have established two Confucius institutes and one Confucius Class in Philippine, Indonesia and the United States respectively. These institutes and class are successively awarded “Global Model Confucius Institute/ Class”, two presidents from our country in Confucius Institutesthe honorary title of “Global Model Individual”. The honors won at the 12th Confucius Conferencearenot only a commendation for achievements made by the Confucius Institute at Angeles University Foundation but also a recognition for our promotion of Chinese language worldwide.
