On August 21, guided by Department of Resource Development of Ministry of Culture and Tourism and Fujian Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism, the Symposium on Theoretical Frontiers and Academic Innovations of the Research on Maritime Tourism in the New Era, jointly hosted by China Society of Natural Resources (CSNR), China Management Science Society, the Editing Department of ECOTOURISM and FNU, was held at FNU. Song Qihui, vice director of Department of Resource Development of Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Cheng Shengkui, chairman of CSNR, Zhang Jie, chairman of Commission on Tourism Geography of the Geographical Society of China, Wu Liguan, senior inspector of Fujian Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism and Tu Rong, vice president of FUN, attended the opening ceremony and made speeches.
The symposium was conducted both online and offline, centering around the theme of “High-quality Development of Maritime Tourism”. Professor Zhang Zhenke of Nanjing University, Professor Gao Jun of Shanghai Normal University, Senior Researcher Cheng Hanping of Nanjing University, Researcher Feng Aiping of Ministry of Natural Resources, Researcher Wang Yingjie of Chinese Academy of Sciences and deputy researcher Li Linlin of Ministry of Natural Resources, made theme reports respectively, presided over by Ning Zhizhong, full-time associate editor of ECOTOURISM. The symposium was divided into three sub-forums of “Development of Maritime Tourism Resources and Tourism Destinations”, “Maritime Tourism Market and Consumption Behavior of Tourists” and “International Comparative Studies and Sustainable Development of Maritime Tourism”. More than 500 experts, scholars and postgraduate representatives from a number of universities and research institutes across the country conducted in-depth discussions, shared their achievements, and actively made suggestions for the high-quality development of maritime tourism in the new era through offline forums, online meetings, and social media platforms.
