From Nov 16 to 17, the 6th International Conference of School as Learning Community was held at Fujian Normal University. The conference, sponsored by the International Network for School as Learning Community(INSLC), was co-hosted by the MOE Key Research Institute of Humanities and Social Sciences at University, the Center for Teacher Education Research of Beijing Normal University and Fujian Normal University, and organized by FNU’s College of Education. More than 330 eminent experts, scholars and representatives of elementary and secondary school teachers from China, Japan, Korea, Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia and Britain attended this conference. Manabu Sato, president of the INSLC and former director of the Pedagogy Department of the University of Tokyo, and Pro.Zheng Jiajian, vice president of FNU, respectively addressed the conference at the opening ceremony.
During the conference, participators conducted in-depth academic discussion on the theme of “Quality and Equality of Learning in School as Learning Community” , and parallel sessions were held in two branch venues for different topics. Four branch forums were dedicated to discussion and exchange of views on SLC collaborative learning, the professional development of SLC teachers, SLC school reform leadership and SLC practice in China. Delegates of the conference also went on a field trip to No.4 Primary School Attached to Fuzhou Education Institute to look at the achievements of applying SLC reform in the school.
