Recently, the 2018 International Workshop on Mining of Big Data and Internet of Things (IoT) was held in Fuzhou. The workshop, sponsored by Fujian Normal University, was organized by the College of Mathematics and Informatics of FNU and the Digital Fujian IoT Laboratory of Environmental Monitoring, the Engineering Technology Research Center of the Mining and Application of Public Service Big Data of Fujian Province, and co-hosted by Fujian Artificial Intelligence Society. Focused on the theme “Big Data and IoT” , the conference was attended by more than 50 experts and scholars from many scientific research institutes and universities,including the University of Montreal, the University of Sherbrook, the University of Ulster, Tamkang University, South China University of Technology, the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Chongqing University of Posts and Telecommunications.
At the conference, experts conducted academic discussions on related topics such as intelligent analysis of big data, message retrieval, mining of data, intelligent environment and IoT and its application. Pro. Jian-Yun Nie from the University of Montreal gave a keynote speech titled “Representation Learning in Information Retrieval from Big Textual Data”. Other speakers included Pro. Sylvain Giroux from the University of Sherbrook, Pro. Xu Guangxia from Chongqing University of Posts and Telecommunications, Pro.Philippe Fournier-Viger from Harbin Institute of Technology, Pro.Djemel Ziou from the University of Sherbrook, Pro.Xu Huihuang from Tamkang University, Pro. Wu Yongxian from South China University of Technology and Pro. Wang Shengrui, Pro.Wang Hui and Professor Jiang Yu’e from FNU.
